The Vancouver Cruise Port is home port for the Vancouver-Alaska cruise, one of the world’s most popular cruises. Every year more than one million revenue passengers on more than 300 sailings, represented by the major international cruise lines, now pass through the Port of Vancouver’s Canada Place and Ballantyne cruise ship facilities.
Canada Place’s reputation was established as the site for the Canada Pavilion at EXPO 86, acknowledged as one of the best-ever host-nation pavilions at a world exposition. Wholly funded by the Government of Canada, the Canada Pavilion was converted into the Vancouver Trade and Convention Centre in 1987 and was then officially turned over to the province of British Columbia as a lasting legacy for the Canadian people.
